Blue Diamonds

When Indonesia declared itself independant in 1949 Ruud (6 yrs) and Riem (8 yrs) de Wolff came from Indonesia to the Netherlands.
A lot of those Indie's played very good guitar and so we got in Holland the 'Indo rock' style.
These boys make music on school party's and are very succesful covering The Everly Brothers.
Who are they ? In 1960 they became worldwide famous with their classic Ramona which sold over 7 million copies.
So for you all here are The Blue Diamonds.
The tracks (the link and the list are in the comments !) are from an LP. I added some more songs in English as well in German.
So some are duplicates but I wanted some cracky single's be a part of this personal (not complete !) compilation.

EDIT 2008_august_15
Check the comments about the year of independence of Indonesia.

very nice album!!! i love the way their voices harmonize... (Ramona is great! there's that very faint chorus in the backgr0und in SOME PARTs of the song that really enthralls me) but it seems that when one of them starTs soloing, it gets funny-weird. kinda mysterious and intriguing... I don't kn0w if it's cuz of the acceNt...

the music is top-notch, the arrangeMent truly wonderfuL... love those tinkling instruments and cool, easy percussions...

thanks a lot for this album~~~

they look so different from the all-american goody-g00dy image of the Everly Brothers but I'm sure they can charm the pants off anyone. *^__^*

Indonesia independent in 1945 not 1949...thanks

Hi Walking man blues and others.
A short explanaiton why I picked 1949.

Read direct link Indonesian National Revolution 1945-1950

Quotes:
>>
On August 15, 1945, Japan surrendered. The Indonesian leadership, pressured by radical youth groups (the pemuda), were obliged to move quickly. With the cooperation of individual Japanese navy and army officers (others feared reprisals from the Allies or were not sympathetic to the Indonesian cause), Sukarno and Hatta formally declared the nation's independence on August 17 at the former's residence in Jakarta, raised the red and white national flag, and sang the new nation's national anthem, Indonesia Raya (Greater Indonesia). The following day a new constitution was promulgated.
>snip
The result of the conference was an agreement that the Netherlands would recognize the RUSI as an independent state, that all Dutch military forces would be withdrawn, and that elections would be held for a Constituent Assembly. Two particularly difficult questions slowed down the negotiations: the status of West New Guinea, which remained under Dutch control, and the size of debts owed by Indonesia to the Netherlands, an amount of 4.3 billion guilders being agreed upon. Sovereignty was formally transferred on December 27, 1949.
>>

I was reffering to the last part.
Indonesia proclamed itself indepedent August 17, 1945 but sovereignty was formally transferred on December 27, 1949.
It depends.... You are from Indonesia, so I can understand why you pick 1945 as date. We pick 1949.....

Beankt voor dit album en de vele andere schitterende albums. Echt heel mooi spul dat ik hier vindt.
