Reunion Radio Veronica off-shore radio station

Just returned home from the reunion of my favorated off shore radio station Radio Veronica. Ahhhh, still smell the salt water, hear the midwave music out of the little transistor radio.
On the left the new book by Auke Kok I did buy.

Copyright of the 2 above pictures are MediaPages.
On the left 'good morning Eddie Becker', mrs SV (from the famous ABTT prg) and technician Ad Bouman treasure the original wooden Radio Veronica doorshield.
On the right 'uncle Bull' Verwey (the eyes aren't what they used to be ...), the remaining co-founder (with his 2 brothers) of Radio Veronica. He's over 97 years old and still likes his gin. Ad, why did you give him a glass of wine ? You should know 'uncle Bull's motto is, as in the good old days, one gets old with at least a gin a day .... Didnt he prove his motto ? Remember yourself them days, liquor wasn't a problem on friday .. :-)

Here's a small clip of the last 45 seconds of Radio Veronica when it had to close down 1974_08_31. Watch 'young' 'uncle Bull' Verwey behind the turntable (and the always available drinks, in this case a Heineken beer....) during the last 'Veronica' jingle. When the crystal was removed there was only noise....

In the comment I placed a link to the last Veronica hour ; you get it in low quality (64kbits) but the studiotape as well as a midwave recording (you can hear the sudden removal of the send-crystal) are there. The above clip is an included bonus.....
Please note at approximately 37/38 minutes the speech by our "Uncle Bull" Verwey in which he explains why they had to make the decision to stop. A memorable moment I can assure ya.
