Bottomless Popcorn tonight : Besame mucho

For tonight's Popcorn playlist go to LASER radio or the Bottomless Popcorn playlist.
Great songs again like the instrumental The Cliff Davis Sextet - Kenessa or Mark Alamo - Only an image of you (...although I have a lot of pictures of other girls...I also want a picture of you...).
Sam Cooke's - Cupid is a well known song. It always 'strikes' me when I hear that arrow go .... :-)
I only know Billy Brown as a Rock'a'billy/rock'n'roll artist. I wonder how Crazy heart will sound.

So take a look at the playlist. My personal 'rate' is just a small 75%.... What's yours ??

Saturday at exactly 20 hours local_CET time Theo Dumoulin starts again. You can be live present if you JOIN us (click there on the 'listen' button) !
This way you get the internet stream directly in your Winamp or Mediaplayer.
You can also go to the LASER stream page and their stream.

Theo gives, amongst a lot of other fine songs, airplay to Flamingos ft Tommie Hunt - Besame mucho.
On CD UNIVERSE you can buy at the small price of just $6.45 Flamingos - I Only Have Eyes For You which contains this great song.
This time I decided to make a compilation of this particular song. Is it covered a hundred times, a thousand times ? More ??? Maybe mr Mellowness will tell us (he can, but will he be so kind .. ?).

All further info about Besame mucho can be obtained at Wikipedia or below.

Besame Mucho - Song Lyrics, Chart History, & Information
Music & Spanish lyrics written by Consuelo Velasquez in 1941, English lyric by Sunny Skylar
Velasquez was born Torres Ortiz Consuelo Velázquez in Ciudad Guzmán, Mexico 8/29/16, and died in Mexico City on 1/22/05
According to Velasquez, the song was inspired by an aria from an opera by Enrique Granados a Spanish composer and pianist of classical music

The first major recording of the song was by The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, with vocals by Bob Eberly & Kitty Kallen
The Dorsey version hit #1 on the charts in 1944, sharing the top spot for a while with "Pistol Packin Mama" by Al Dexter
Besame Mucho was one of the first songs in the repertoire of the fledgling Beatles, and they performed it at their unsuccessful audition for Decca Records on New Year's Day in 1962
One of the most popular songs of the 20th century, Besame Mucho has been translated into over twenty languages, and has been recorded by literally hundreds of artists
Some of the major artists who have recorded the song are: Danny Aiello, Josephine Baker, Andrea Bocelli, Dave Brubeck, Vikki Carr, José Carreras, Charo, The Coasters, Nat King Cole, Xavier Cugat, Sammy Davis Jr, Plácido Domingo, The Flamingos, Connie Francis, Stan Getz, Chris Isaak, Harry James, Ben E. King, Spike Jones, Frankie Laine, Steve Lawrence and Edie Gorme, Trini Lopez, Dean Martin, Carmen McRae, Les Paul, The Platters, Elvis Presley, Tito Puente, Linda Ronstadt, Artie Shaw, Frank Sinatra, and the 101 Strings Orchestra
A great song for use as a first dance at weddings

Interested ? You don't have to kiss me much (...), a small winkle is enough in the comment... :-)
