Today 1940 Dr John the Nighttripper was born
Today 1940 Dr John the Nighttripper (also Dr John Creaux) was born in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr John is the stage name of Malcolm John Rebennack Jr, a colorful pianist, singer, and songwriter, whose music spans, and often combines, blues, boogie woogie, and rock and roll. Rebennack gained fame beginning in the late 1960s and early 1970s, with music that combined New Orleans-style rhythm and blues with psychedelic rock and stage shows that bordered on voodoo religious ceremonies, including elaborate costumes and headdress. For a time he was billed as Doctor John, The Night Tripper. The name 'Dr John' came from a legendary Louisiana voodoo practitioner from the start of the 19th century.
In the sixties I lived a short while in a kinda commune on the country side where the others also played psych music. I'm not so much into that but I like Dr John's 1968 debut album a lot.
Dr John - Gris gris 1968.
1-Gris_Gris Gumbo Ya Ya
2-Danse Kalinda Ba Doom
3-Mama Roux
4-Danse Fambeaux
5-Croker Courtbullion
6-Jump Sturdy
7-I Walk On Guided Splinters
Gris-Gris Gumbo Ya-Ya, Mama Roux, Jump Sturdy and I Walk on Gilded Splinters have become cult favorites. In 2003, this album was ranked number 143 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Quite an honour I think.

'Clickable' links are for you downloaders soooo convienent but the disadvantage is they don't seem to 'last' long.
The Blogger gets a lot of comments 'please re-up'...... Other, more appropriate/interesting comments, they don't get.... :(
So you will have to do a little work to get the link.
This seems, in my opinion, the best way to 'protect' my links and the least effort for you.

Of course you understand to replace in r#pidsh#re twice the # in an a otherwise you don't have a 'valid' link !!
Paste this valid link in your browser-url and hit RETURN. You can also copy/paste the link into your 'downloadmanager'.
Pass to extract the file : 071120
File is a small 30MB, 'cause the songs are only in 128kbits
