Today 1966 Sophie Tucker died

Sophie Tucker (January 13, 1884–February 9, 1966) was a singer and comedian, one of the most popular entertainers in America during the first third of the 20th century.
She was born Sonia Kalish to a Jewish family in Tsarist Russia. Her family emigrated to the United States when she was an infant, and settled in Hartford, Connecticut. The family changed its name to Abuza, and her parents opened a restaurant.
Read more about her at Wikipedia.

You would think I just like the music I offered ya untill now. No, my musical taste goes even into the deep thirties.
Today is a good moment to give you an example of that era.

I wonder how many of you will download the songs below...... Listen to great lyrics like Stay at home papa from 1934_may. And because of this kind of lyrics she was adored by so many women !

Note : full screen window gives you the best view of the comments !

'Clickable' links are for you downloaders soooo convienent but the disadvantage is they don't seem to 'last' long.
The Blogger gets a lot of comments 'please re-up'...... Other, more appropriate/interesting comments, they sadly don't get.... :(
So you will have to do a little work to get the link.
This seems, in my opinion, the best deal between 'protecting' my links and the least effort for you.

You are smart, ain't ya ? So of course you understand to replace in r#pidsh#re twice the # in an a otherwise you don't have a 'valid' link !!
Paste this valid link in your browser-url and hit RETURN. You can also copy/paste the link into your 'downloadmanager'.

Pass to extract the file : 080210
The file is a small 40MB, 'cause the songs are only in low bitrate 128kbits

Nice to hear Sophie again. You could call het the Bette Midler of the 30's... or is Bette a bad copy of Sophie?

Xyros,
I don't know anything about Bette Midler.

I had to choose from six different compilation LP's for this article.
All I can say Sophie Tucker did, with her lyrics and behaviour, a lot to 'women's liberation' in them thirties.
At least, my mom told me so.
