Today 1930 Chris Barber was born

An advantage of being old can be the variety of music one collected. In them eighties I even collected for ten years just classical music..... By so I don't have anything pop from these years (apart from the well known 50/60/70's artists who still recorded) and I am not interested too. So no bubblegum music for me.
In the nineties I started buying my old fav's on cd and so adding/replacing bit by bit my vinyl collection.

Today is an interesting (historical) day.
Today 1940 British singer Billy Fury was born.
Today 1960 is also the day Eddie Cochran died.
Search for their music my Blog !
Two days ago I offered ya Cruisin' 1961 Arnie 'woo woo' Ginsberg and I pointed to the today's Wikipedia Bay of Pigs Invasion article which was on that sleeve.
And finally today in 1969 Czechoslovak Communist Party chairman Alexander Dubček & (here also) was deposed. I travelled so many times to Eastern Europe and in particular Czechoslovakia/Prague in those years....

Interesting of course, but I wanna go back even more into time, way back....
Donald Christopher 'Chris' Barber was born 1930_april_17 at Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England and is best known as a trombonist playing in his Tradional revivals with his Dixieland jazz band.
Who doesn't remember the hit Petite Fleur with Monty Sunshine on clarinet ?
How great was that Danish female singer Ottilie Patterson (who was at one time Mrs Barber). What a voice. When I am dead and gone their Precious Lord lead me on has to be played....!!!

Note : full screen window gives you the best view of the comments !

'Clickable' links are for you downloaders soooo convienent but the disadvantage is they don't seem to 'last' long.
The Blogger gets a lot of comments 'please re-up'...... Other, more appropriate/interesting comments, they sadly don't get.... :(
So you will have to do a little work to get the link.
This seems, in my opinion, the best deal between 'protecting' my links and the least effort for you.

Link :
http://r#pidsh#re.com/files/108073298/BJB_C-B_1_1956.rar
Of course you understand to replace in r#pidsh#re twice the # in an a otherwise you don't have a 'valid' link !!
Paste this valid link in your browser-url and hit RETURN. You can also copy/paste the link into your 'downloadmanager'.

Pass to extract the file : 080417
The file is a small 55MB, 'cause the songs are only in low bitrate 128kbits.
Please donnut give a nasty comment about that.

The next depends, amongst other things, on your security options in your browser and by so the ability to copy/paste the link.

When you see this in Google or Yahoo cache or by my Blog's search function read first the RED instructions at the top left of my Blog !
Direct link (after that go to the plain comment of this 2008_april article !) : JeansMusicBlog
Also possible : just click the 'post a comment' section here and you are able to copy/paste !

Hi Jean,
Thanks for Chris Barber, the prostitute/protestant joke, Purple Chick 1-6 (& 7-10 in the future, which I'm depending on you to post), your excellent blog in general, and to you for always coming across as a cheerful chap.
Visiting your blog always makes me feel that the sun is shining, although the red and yellow bit at the top always brings to mind Chinese New Year.

hi eric,
the Buddy Holly uploads are done as well as the postings.
Just have to pick a date to post (have also some others prepared..).

I do enjoy coming back to this blog, though I am often frustrated that my downloads do not work. Love the music, especially the obscure stuff. Brian Lombard, Cape Town
