Today 1946 Peter Green was born

Peter Green was born Peter Allen Greenbaum, 29 October 1946, in Bethnal Green, London. He's a British blues-rock guitarist and founder of Fleetwood Mac.
A figurehead in the British blues movement, Green inspired BB King to say, "He has the sweetest tone I ever heard; he was the only one who gave me the cold sweats." Green's playing was marked with a distinctive vibrato and economy of style. Though he played other guitars, he is best known for deriving a unique tone from his 1959 Gibson Les Paul, a result of the guitar's neck pickup connections being reversed to produce an 'out of phase' sound.
He played in John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, the 'original' Fleetwood Mac and lately Peter Green's Splinter Group.
A short biography can be fount at Wikipedia.

In the past I offered you Fleetwood Mac - Then Play On 1969_10 and Fleetwood Mac - Kiln House 1970. Today something very special. Fleetwood Mac's first album called Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac 1968. But not just the album, I 'used' my CoolEditPro again and added some alternate takes of various songs.

(extra bonus)

Track #09 is 14 minutes...., track #10 is 9 minutes...
Special note to track #04. I always felt Robert Johnson's Hellhound on my trail the best blues song of this LP. Here's also Jeremy Spencer's own 'rendition' of this song as You're so evil..... Note also Jeremy saying at the end (not on the offical album !) 'I forgot the lyrics'. It should have been obvious as Jeremy delivers the lyrics 'If today was Christmas day and tomorrow was Christmas eve'.... Nobody seems to have spotted the error at the time or simply kept quiet... By the way, Hellhound was take 1 and Evil take 2, but I reversed it in my editing....
Extra bonus track #13 is of unknown date but my personal guess is it was recorded the same date as My heart beat like a hammer (1967_december_11).

I never liked the 'poppy' Fleetwood Mac with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. Hurry up to the comments and tell us your opinion.

The file is a small 60MB, 'cause the songs are only in low bitrate 128kbits.
Please donnut give a nasty comment about that : check 'My opinion about bitrates' on 2008_jan_25.

Many thanks for this.
Fleetwood Mac with Greeny at his best are sublime.
But if you don't like the new Fleetwood Mac stuff, treat them as a different band.
Some of their stuff is ok like Landslide, Never Going Back Again and Rhiannon.
But you're right, it's pale stuff compared to the emotion, talent and blues guts displayed in the earlier Mac.

Hi John,
I do treat the new Fleetwood Mac as a 'new' band. But I simply don't like the music. Too 'poppy' for me but I can understand a lot of others will like them.
Your example 'Rhiannon' is to me technically a great song but it doesn't give me personally thrills...

Luckily we can have differences in our musical taste. Otherwise it would be boring.

I also see the new Fleetwood Mac in a positive way. As I wrote earlier (I believe) Fleetwood Mac was almost dead during that US tour. Just because Stevie and Lindsey joined they were able to go on. And so the name of Fleetwood Mac is still important to younger people.

It took me quite a long while to appreciate the new Fleetwood Mac. The first Fleetwood Mac song I heard was "Green Manalishi", and it wasn't until almost a year ago that I finally got a copy of it -- it was released only as a single (because it was too dismal for their album).

Amazing how much a woman can change things, huh? ;-)
