Star Sisters presents Andrews Sisters Medley
November 11 last year I posted a story about the Dutch Star Sisters in Concert. I offered a LP on which they were bringing back the WWII years. Also on 18 february this year I did a little issue about them as Stars on 45.
Yesterdays post about The Andrews Sisters brings me back again to the Star Sisters.
Here's a little Youtube video of the Star Sisters in Concert. Isn't it nice to see all the sleeve pictures who were included in my original post can be seen here 'alive' ?

And if you didn't watch this video you missed a lot about the remembrance of those times of the fourties !!
I have all (or at least the majority of) the clips I posted in the past.
I consider to post them if there is a need to. I'll see that in the comments.
And because you seem to just 'download' I placed a Rapidshare link in the comment to this 9MB avi clip !

Andrews Sisters & Glenn Miller - Chesterfield Broadcasts 1939_1940
Retiring and having a lot of spare time ? After just two weeks : no. I'll tell ya later how busy I am. My succeeder (better said 'the organisation') doesn't seem to do very well. Hard to stay on the 'outside'..... Gladly my (... not anymore ? ...) assistant Henny will today accompany one of my (Turkish) disabled patients for the fourth (...) time to the University hospital where she would be treated. They said they nowadays don't see these persons treated in a general practice anymore but I am sad treatment in a hospital takes too much time (discussing/protocol and so on ....). It's soooo difficult to say I'm not involved anymore and to let things go on........jpg)
Well you come to me because of the music and you are not interested in my 'diary'...
Have some time now to search the internet and found this very interesting 2CD.
Have a lot of this kind of old radio recordings. Sadly, but understandable, in a very low quality.
If I remember well this kind of commercial broadcasts lasted 15 or 30 minutes. In Europe we listened to them later on by the AFN (American Forces Network Europe).
If you wanna go back into time (way back into time ....) write your remarks in the comment section ...

Star Sisters : Stars on 45
I notice lately a lot of 'Google searches' to the Star Sisters.And because somehow my simple Blog seems tot score high on Google (can someone explain in a comment to me why/how ?) a lot (or is it just one person ?) come to my site.
Patricia Paay, her sister Yvonne (later on also known as Yvonne Keely and married to Steve Harley...) and friend Sylvana Van Veen were The Star Sisters at the time and did a nice act as the Andrew Sisters with 1940s voices and music style.
Dutch producer Jaap Eggermont produced before several Stars on 45 medley's.
He saw Patricia (later married to Adam Curry), Yvonne and their mother appearing on a TV show by Ivo Niehe as a kind of joke with an Andrews Sisters act.
So he decided to make a single with them. Mother didn't wanted to go along so Sylvana joined in (although the singing was done just by Patricia and Yvonne).
The title became "Stars On 45 proudly presents the Star Sisters" and for the first time his "Stars on 45" serie had a 'real face'.
They made two more hits with medleys "Hooray For Hollywood" en "A Tribute For Marilyn Monroe".
Sylvana was later on kicked out and replaced by Ingrid Ferdinandusse. They made more records but those didn't became hits.
Go to my archives 2006_november_11 where I wrote about the LP which was issued after that huge succes of that first single. It's a real 'gem'.

Star Sisters in concert
During the second World War there were a lot of US/UK entertainers who performed for the troups.Amongst them of course The Andrews Sisters. My mom liked them soooo much.
In the Netherlands there was in the seventies a producer Jaap Eggermont who got a lot of succes with his series 'Stars of' on which Dutch singers covering old hits in medleys like it was original.He also made an LP 'Star Sisters in concert' on which the 'Paay sisters' acted as if they were The Andrews Sisters.
When one listens to this record it's just like you are present on such an old evening.
On the left is the announcement and on the right the setlist for this superb extra ordinary evening. In the comments is my personal invitation to attend.
